Applicant Submissions received at Wembley
15 English cities submit Applicant Host City bids
The 15 Applicant host Cities who are hoping to become part of England’s World Cup bid to FIFA have today presented their submissions to England 2018 representatives at Wembley Stadium.
The Host City process was initiated on launch day for the bid on May 18th and during the last 6 months each city has been involved in a competitive process that will identify which of them will be selected to become Candidate Cities. This will mean their inclusion in England 2018’s final Bid Book to be presented to FIFA in Zurich next May.
The cities have today presented plans that should reflect each of the 20 technical areas required by FIFA including stadiums, training camps, accommodation, transportation and security.
During the process, the cities have received two inspection visits from England 2018’s technical team and been involved in a series of consultation exercises aimed at providing the maximum opportunity for cities to present the best submission possible on behalf of their region.
England 2018 Chairman, David Triesman, Selection Panel Chairman, Brian Mawhinney, and Chief Executive, Andy Anson received bid books from each city’s delegation which included civic dignitaries and regional celebrities and local children.
The announcement of which cities have been successful will be made on Wednesday, December 16th.
